Violence in the Schools: the Philadelphia Story

Meet Helen Gym of Asian Americans United, the community group working with the students, Cecilia Chen of Asian American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the legal representation for the students, Tram Nguyen of Victim/Witness Services of South Philadelphia and South Philadelphia High School students.

After dozens of Asian American Students were beaten at South Philadelphia High School, the struggle for justice and reform continues.

Find out what's happening in fighting the Philadelphia Schools administration to protect its students. Hear how their story may be part of larger issues of violence against Asian American Students. Among the issues discussed will be the conditions and incidents, how they built their student-community coalition, the specific legal case, and whether anti-immigrant sentiment played any role. There will be also be an extensive questions and answer opportunity.
