Kavya C

South Asian Organizer

Kavya C (She/Hers) is a queer, South Indian, Brahmin Christian immigrant working to
mobilize South Asian community members and build multi-racial solidarity in the fight for collective liberation. Kavya currently serves as the South Asian Program Coordinator at AARW. In her position, Kavya runs the Camberville South Asian Leadership Training (C-SALT), a co-learning space for South Asian youth and young adults from Cambridge & Somerville to learn about organizing and political education in a South Asian context. She also helps lead AARW's South Asian* Organizing team, where she works on issues faced by the South Asian community in the greater Boston area through a caste abolitionist framework.She cites her experiences as a young queer immigrant and her political education through CitySchool’s Summer Leadership Program (SLP) as the start of her politicization and commitment to justice. Kavya previously worked many summers as a staff member and Seminar Teacher at SLP. She also led a survivor based organization and took part in political education and organizing efforts against racial inequality and sexual violence on her campus. Kavya holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Social Justice Studies from Hamilton College.
