Movement Leadership

Our Work

At AARW, we believe leadership is about collective power, shared responsibility, and community care. Our movement leadership work supports Asian American leaders, artists, organizers, and storytellers to shape a bold vision for racial, housing, and immigrant justice across Massachusetts, regionally, and across the country.

  • Boston Asian American Film Festival (BAAFF)

The Boston Asian American Film Festival (BAAFF) celebrates the power of Asian American storytelling through film, art, and conversation. Founded in 2008 as one of AARW’s core Arts & Culture programs, BAAFF amplifies diverse Asian American experiences, challenges stereotypes, and connects filmmakers and audiences across generations and identities.

As a program of AARW, BAAFF uses film as a tool for movement building through narrative change — creating space for cultural expression, critical dialogue, and joy. Each year, BAAFF brings together hundreds of audience members, artists, and organizers to explore what it means to be Asian American in today’s world and to envision what’s next.
